There are some innovative and advanced glazing systems used in this sleek design of this very modern barn conversion. Super size sliding glass panels, with a frame that sits within the walls, ceiling and floor so that all you see is the uninterrupted views through 99% of glass. Motorised guillotine windows drop down from the ceiling to create large openings that provide exceptional ventilation, and even halt to form a solid glass balcony, also sit with the frame hidden in the walls. And finally hidden vents are used in the opening windows which look as crisp and minimal as the fixed frame glazing set into the gables, hidden behind a slatted brise soleil in timber, which is used for shade and dappled light.

Winter Garden with Large Format Slim-Frame Sliding Doors
This Winter Garden was a replacement for a 1970's 'functional' style extension. We chose to incorporate a long glass roof and huge sliding doors and it was important to use slim frames, set into the newly rendered walls creating a wall of glass to the courtyard garden and a very contemporary look. High thermal performance was needed for this large amount of glass so that the family room extension could be used throughout the seasons, day or night.
